RedPeak Team Members Come Out to Build a Playground for Family Homestead

RedPeak Team Members came out to support Family Homestead, a local non-profit organization that provides emergency and transitional housing for homeless families with children along with support services to help parents work towards economic stability – and a place of their own. RedPeak donated – and assembled – a playground set for Family Homestead families.

An important part of RedPeak’s Sustainability mission is to be a good neighbor in the communities in which we operate. And, Family Homestead is a natural extension of our business – providing clean and well-maintained apartments in Denver. When we found out that the existing playground set at Zephyr Apartments in Northeast Denver was literally being dismantled and sold for parts, it took us no time at all to commit to provide a new, sturdier playground set – and give the day off to any RedPeak Team Member who wanted to be part of our playground crew.

Our timing was great – we piggy-backed on the Apartment Association of Metro Denver’s annual “Spring Clean” event that also benefits Family Homestead. So, while our team was building the playground set, other folks from the apartment industry were painting apartments, installing new doors and screens and fixing up the landscaping.

Jenn Isaac, who works in RedPeak’s home office said, “As we were building the playground set, it was incredible to see the anticipation from the residents who lived at the property. A young mother and her two children walked by watching our team and graciously thanked us for our generosity. You could see little kids looking out the window in anticipation as if they couldn’t wait to swing or take a ride down the slide.”

The best part of the entire day was to see the finished product. The final “reveal” was magical, watching one of the little girls who lived at Zephyr Apartments play for the first time on her new playground, her smile stretching from ear to ear.
