RedPeak Supports the Denver Chalk Art Festival

Two of RedPeak’s urban Denver communities – The Seasons of Cherry Creek and 1600 Glenarm Place, sponsored artists in the 2010 Downtown Denver Chalk Art Festival to support the Larimer Arts Foundation.

The Downtown Denver Chalk Art Festival happens right at Larimer Square in downtown Denver and is a free two-day street-painting festival. More than 200 artists spend hours that weekend turning the streets of Larimer Square into a museum of chalk art. Artists, sponsors and spectators find it difficult to describe in words the splendid experience that Denver Chalk Art Festival creates.

All the proceeds from the Denver Chalk Art Festival benefits the Larimer Arts Association (LAA), which was founded in 1996 as a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting arts awareness and education in Denver. Its mission is to promote, stimulate and encourage the cultural welfare of Denver through interactive cultural events and cooperative art programming for emerging artists.

From the LAA’s website:

“The LAA’s mission is becoming more and more important as funding for the arts has significantly eroded in Denver- area schools, communities and venues. This condition is coupled with the diminishing amount of charitable support of the arts in Denver, despite the proven positive outcomes of culture –  entertainment, beauty, fulfillment, and a vehicle of healing for children and adults alike.”
