MileHiCon More than 80 authors and speakers will be on hand for this three-day event− the largest science fiction fantasy literary convention in the region. Festivities include the 10th annual Critter Floatilla, a costume contest, and an auction where attendees can bid on rare books, autographed books, original artwork and collectibles.

Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition Fans of the Discovery Channel TV show Mythbusters might want to check out this exhibit (at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science through Jan. 5), which uses interactive technology and a hands-on approach to allow attendees to explore the world of science using the same methods as the hosts of the Emmy-nominated series.

Denver Zombie Crawl Run, walk, or crawl the Organ Trail around downtown Denver during this event that organizers describe as “part Amazing Race, part Fear Factor, and part haunted house.” Yikes. However, the winners take home cash prizes!

Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon These races, which begin and end at Civic Center Park, come with a Finish Line Festival where runners can reunite with friends and family, and enjoy refreshments and live music.

The Ironic Object On view at RedLine through Oct. 27, this show  features the work of 10 artists from Colorado, California, Illinois and Washington. Curator Lanny Frances DeVuono says, “I wanted to narrow the exhibit to focus largely on sculptural objects and was particularly looking for artists whose use of materials veered into cultural critique, but also held onto that special poetry that exists with visual metaphors.”
