Denver Weekend Rundown: Nov. 1-3
Looking for things to do in Denver this weekend? The RedPeak staff has your back. Here’s a list of our top picks for Nov. 1-3.
Denver Arts Week This annual event celebrates all the Mile High City has to offer in the way of music, theater, film, dance, opera, comedy, literature, and the visual arts. Attend First Fridays in more than a dozen neighborhoods or visit the 20+ museums with free admission from 5 to 10 p.m tomorrow through November 9. Other Denver Arts Week highlights include the Denver Art Museum’s Passport to Paris exhibition and the Starz Denver Film Festival, which shows about 280 new international feature releases, independent films and documentaries, shorts and music videos.
Dia de los Muertos at the Gardens Celebrate the Day of the Dead —a Mexican holiday honoring those who are no longer living— at the Denver Botanic Gardens with an evening of entertainment (traditional Aztec dancing), activities (including face painting and a candlelit procession at sunset), and traditional Mexican food available for purchase from several vendors.
Home for the Holidays 5K Run, jog, or walk this race at City Park to raise money for homeless families and individuals. Even just one race entry helps immunize a homeless child, allowing them to enroll in school. Prizes will be awarded to participants with outstanding individual race times and costumes, and those who raise the most money. Last year, 757 participants helped raise more than $46,000!
Hal Sparks You might be familiar with this actor/comedian from his stint hosting Talk Soup on E! Entertainment Television or his role as Michael Novotny on the Showtime series Queer as Folk. But tonight he’s returning to his performing roots with a stand-up routine at Comedy Works at Larimer Square. He’ll be joined by special guest Lisa Landry for his three remaining shows in Denver today and tomorrow.
The Yeezus Tour This tour is in support of “Yeezus,” Kanye West’s sixth album and his sixth consecutive number one debut. Tonight’s concert, with special guest Kendrick Lamar, will be the hip hop artist’s first performance in Denver since 2008.
