Friday

May the Fourth Be with You Comedian Andrew Novick will host this three-day sci-fi extravaganza –open to all ages!– that kicks off at 8 p.m. at 3 Kings Tavern and continues at various venues across town. Highlights include the annual sci-fi character costume contest, a bottomless mimosa brunch, and a movie screening at Deer Pile. Tickets for the entire weekend are $35. Geekiness is encouraged.

Saturday

Furry Scurry This two-mile walk for homeless animals in the care of the Dumb Friends League takes place at Washington Park. Participants can enjoy contests (including a pet/person look-alike contest) and demonstrations, and visit more than 150 pet product and service vendors at the event’s Flea-less Market. Day-of registration begins at 7 a.m. and the walk kicks off bright and early at 9 a.m.

Chihuly Rediscovered This Dale Chihuly exhibition features more than 50 works from the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center as well as pieces loaned by local collectors. Plus, the FAC has partnered with the Denver Botanic Gardens, which is hosting the first major outdoor Chihuly exhibit in the Rocky Mountain region starting in June, and when you buy a ticket to “Chihuly Rediscovered,” you get $5 off that show (and vice versa).

Cinco de Mayo Festival Held at Civic Center Park, these Cinco de Mayo festivities include a variety of fun events and entertainment, including a parade, green chile bowl cook off, taco eating contest, chihuahua races, and performances by local and national talent. The two-day festival opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. 

Sunday

Denver Mini Maker Faire Learn what more than 200 people are making and learning at this two-day showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness. Basically it’s a super-sized Show & Tell, complete with demonstrations, displays and workshops from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To see a complete list of the makers who will be on hand, click HERE.
