Highlights include the annual sci-fi character costume contest, a bottomless mimosa brunch, and a movie screening at Deer Pile. Tickets for the entire weekend are $35. Geekiness is encouraged.

Furry Scurry This two-mile walk for homeless animals in the care of the Dumb Friends League takes place at Washington Park. Participants can enjoy contests (including a pet/person look-alike contest) and demonstrations, and visit more than 150 pet product and service vendors at the event’s Flea-less Market. Day-of registration begins at 7 a.m. and the walk kicks off bright and early at 9 a.m.

Chihuly Rediscovered This Dale Chihuly exhibition features more than 50 works from the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center as well as pieces loaned by local collectors. Plus, the FAC has partnered with the Denver Botanic Gardens, which is hosting the first major outdoor Chihuly exhibit in the Rocky Mountain region starting in June, and when you buy a ticket to “Chihuly Rediscovered,” you get $5 off that show (and vice versa).

Cinco de Mayo Festival Held at Civic Center Park, these Cinco de Mayo festivities include a variety of fun events and entertainment, including a parade, green chile bowl cook off, taco eating contest, chihuahua races, and performances by local and national talent. The two-day festival opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m.
