Friday

Denver Shakespeare Festival About 5,000 Denver Public Schools students will perform during this event– the oldest and largest student Shakespeare fest in the country. It opens with ceremonies at the Daniels and Fisher Tower, followed by a short parade down the 16th Street Mall to the Denver Performing Arts Complex stages. Free performances take place throughout the day on multiple stages, and are open to the public.

Root40 Music Fest Catch the last three days of this event designed to entertain, educate, cultivate and enrich Colorado’s music and performance community. The fun takes place in bars and music venues and on outdoor stages along historic US Route 40-Colfax Avenue. Click HERE for a list of participating venues.

Saturday

Captured in Film Watch two 1920s silent films –Charley Chase’s “Mighty Like a Moose and Buster Keaton’s “One Week”– and a new production that takes its cues from the silent era– accompanied by the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra and live Vaudeville performances by the Buntport Theatre Company. Fun Fact: This collaborative event will be held at the refurbished Holiday Event Center, which was built when Vaudeville and films were presented together.

Sunday

Cherry Creek Sneak This race has running fun for the whole family! Participants have their pick of a 10-mile, 5-mile, or 5K run or the 7 Healthy Kids Project 1.5-mile sprint course. Plus, there’s a half-mile Kids Fun Run for children 8 and under, and a Diaper Dash for little ones in the Kids Fun Zone. And the best part: The race supports the Food Bank of the Rockies.

Flame 2014 This day-long festival at Tracks Nightclub also doubles as a fundraiser for non-profits that provide services and advocacy to LGBTQ and homeless youth. Expect live music, DJs, artists, designers, health information, vendors and food.
